In 2009, Artie Lange made headlines for a DUI bust (for prescription sleeping pills) as well as a profane, homophobic appearance on HBO’s Joe Buck Live.
While Lange’s health situation and Stern fate remain unclear, perhaps Stern will shed light on it when he comes back from his holiday hiatus Monday.
Lange took a leave of absence from Stern’s Sirius-XM radio program in the days leading up to the show’s two-week holiday break last month. He also cancelled several stand-up gigs in recent weeks, including a New Year’s Eve engagement. The Howard Stern Show is scheduled to return live on Monday.
The comedian, 42, has been absent from Stern’s satellite radio show since early December and canceled several stand-up engagements during that time. According to his schedule, Lange’s upcoming performances in late January and February have also been called off.
He recently pulled the plug on a New Year’s Eve engagement, and per his official website, all of his stand-up dates through February have also been scrapped.
