Even though Frank and his ladies might not be genuinely looking for love (this is a VH1 reality show, after all), we have to admit that greenlighting Frank the Entertainer in a Basement Affair was a genius move for VH1. No need to rent a pimped-out mansion or pay for fancy dates in exotic locations!
Did you make a New Year’s resolution to give NBC’s “Heroes” another chance? The series returns with a two-hour episode at 8 p.m. on WHDH (Ch. 7). Claire (Hayden Panettiere) becomes suspicious of Samuel (Robert Knepper) just as Sylar (Zachary Quinto) returns to the carnival.
** It’s about time. Ben (Ken Baumann) finally contemplates breaking up with Amy (Shailene Woodley) when ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” returns with new episodes at 8 p.m.
Tuesday Jan. 5
** Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos reprise their roles as Hayley Vaughan Santos and Mateo Santos on ABC’s “All My Children” at 1 p.m. on WCVB. The real-life couple, who haven’t appeared on the series since 2001, return to mark the show’s 40th anniversary.
** The ninth season of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” kicks off at 8 p.m. on WHDH. Before the two-hour episode is over, host Alison Sweeney will have a surprise for the 22 contestants.
Wednesday Jan. 6
** Celebrities hide their identities and work regular jobs in another installment of CBS “I Get That a Lot,” at 8 p.m. on WBZ (Ch. 4). Look for Paris Hilton, Julie Chen, Snoop Dogg and Gene Simmons.
** ABC’s “Ugly Betty” moves into its Wednesday time slot at 10 p.m. on WCVB. Hilda (Ana Ortiz) wonders whether she should tell Bobby (Adam Rodriguez) that he’s the father of her unborn child.
Thursday Jan. 7
** Is there a better place to get treated for an addiction than on TV? Absolutely, but that’s not stopping Mackenzie Phillips, Heidi Fleiss and Tom Sizemore, among others, from participating in the third edition of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” at 10 p.m. on VH1.
