BeautifulPeople.com Dumps 5,000 Members Who Couldn’t Drop The Pounds

A social networking Web site for “beautiful people” has booted 5,000 of its members who packed on pounds over the holidays.

Danish website BeautifulPeople.com, which features profiles of people deemed to be beautiful by the members of its community, was forced to axe the people after members said people were posting photos of themselves over Christmas and the New Year, showing that they “let themselves go,” according to The Daily Mail.

Most of the people dropped were from the US, UK and Australia, says Managing Director Greg Hodge.

“Every year we see that some of our members from Western cultures eat and drink to excess over the holidays and clearly their looks suffer,” Hodge said. “In the UK and Canada, Christmas and the New Year are all about overeating, overdrinking and watching TV on the sofa. … It’s no wonder that so many members have been expelled from the network. We hope they will be back after shedding the festive pounds.”

Ousted members were supplied with information on local gyms and may reapply to join the site, but must be voted back in by current members.

The concept of BeautifulPeople.com “was founded on one very simple principle of human nature — the fact that people want to be with someone they are attracted to. It may not be politically correct to say so… but it is honest.”
