Is Jyoti Basu Dead

He was admitted to hospital following pneumonia and his condition turned very critical today. He was put on ventilator after acute breathing problems. According to the family and hospital sources, the veteran communist leader breathed his last at 1.30 pm.

Basu was admitted to hospital last Friday and his condition was improving till yesterday.

Jyoti Basu served as the longest Chief Minister of India. He was the chief minister of West Bengal from 1977 to 2000. He was succeeded by Buddhadev Bhattacharya in the office.

He was the member of CPI (M) Politburo from the time of party’s founding in 1964 till 2008.
As per a report published on kalponik.us, he died at around 1:30 pm today, 6th January 2010. He developed breathing trouble at early morning hours and was shifted to theventilator in the afternoon hours. He was admitted to the Salt Lake AMRI Hospital in Kolkata for the aforesaid pneumonic infection.

The death news of the iconic figure will be shocking to many of his followers as he was the pioneer of Leftist movement in India.
