Mckinney Isd, Mckinney Isd Report

Cheerleading coaches, like coaches of sports teams, should be able to choose their squads, he said. He added that having three coaches and a coordinator involved guarantees objectivity in the process.

At the board’s request, the administration had surveyed past cheerleader candidates and parents. Seventy-five percent said they were satisfied with the current process, but 63 percent said coaches should have input in the selection.

Since coaches don’t currently have input, Crowe said he found the survey results a bit confusing.

Fifty-nine percent of those surveyed favored letting juniors in good standing automatically make the squad as a senior. Forty-one percent opposed that idea.

The choosing of cheerleaders for next school is to occur in March through tryouts at McKinney Boyd High School.

Below are details of the selection approach that the administration took to the board tonight, and will now go forward with, Cunningham said.
I have begged McKinney ISD to allow students to take advantage of these great opportunities, but the district has refused allow them to participate during the school day.

Due to limitations in scheduling and other factors, some students are faced with taking “knock off” classes because there are no other options. This does not provide an adequate, challenging education.

I applaud Shapiro for supporting the TxVSN, but I hope she realizes that students cannot take advantage of these great educational opportunities until local districts grant their permission.
