Hello you guys are wonderful

Hi
Everyone I am Nita

First I want to say this is a wonderful place. I have been lurking for almost two months and I have learned so much. I have seen so much compassion. Like the tough compassion in the "I am scared thread." This is a great group of people.
About me:
I received my diagnosis in November. Doctor said your AIC was 6.9 and if it goes above 7 you have to take insulin. See me in two months. That was it. Fortunately as a librarian I am use to using all kinds of media to research everything to death. So I have read Dr. Bernstein, Dr. McDougall and Dr. Barnard. Read articles and internet information. The result I am now watching my fats and following a low glycemic, low carb 50-90, lacto ovo vegetarian diet.:D
I started my diet before I got a meter so I am not sure how high my number every was. Following this diet my averages has been 88-99. I want to keep below 110 preferably 100. The highest was in the beginning 126 ate some sushi. I am so early in this I am not sure what the future will bring I haven’t really miss foods. A lot of the foods I can’t eat I really shouldn’t eat because of trying to loss weight.
The other component of this life style, exercise could be better. In my 20’s 30’s and early 40’s I really really exercised a lot. I ran a couple of marathons practiced martial arts, swimming power yoga weight lifting and spinning.:) Some days I exercised 3 to 4 hours. In the last six years with kids there just wasn’t time. Now at 50 I am working at 30 to 45 minutes a day. I never completely stop exercising but never consistently Certainly not like when there was no other life demands. I always wanted to get back some of the strength and flexibility I had during my younger years. I own a spinning bike and use a lot of fitness videos. Still wish I had more time. Now with my diagnosis it’s essential I make time.
