What once was Irrational Games and then 2K Boston is now once again Irrational Games, completing a circle of, well, irrational name-changing.
The developer (responsible for such games as BioShock, Freedom Force, and System Shock 2, for those unawares) changed their name when they were purchased by Take-Two in 2006. According to Game Informer, the decision was made after the folks at Irrational Games noticed they kept being referred to as “2K Boston (formerly Irrational Games),” and then decided to make the obvious correction.
Along with embracing their old name, Irrational Games is also opening a new website: irrationalgames.com. It’s just a countdown for now, but when it does count down, the site will feature behind-the-scenes content and “never before seen tidbits” about such classic Irrational Games games as the aforementioned BioShock, Freedom Force, and System Shock 2.
