here’s where i get pissed…
his next statement is, and i quote. "that’s not good, you should go see your regular doctor when you get a chance."
WTF?????!!!???? they didn’t try to give me any insulin, they didn’t let me speak to an endocrinologist, they didn’t do a d*mn thing!!!!
my mom who was sitting there with me was LIVID. she couldn’t believe they would let me leave with a BS of that…
so anyways, i went to my regular doctor the next day as that was the soonest they could get me in and they do some blood work. and in a few weeks i meet the endocrinologist and he informs me that my A1C was 14!!! i almost knocked my mom over with that number… lol the doctor even told me he thought it was a misprint when he read it… i guess it was good i cut the Mtn Dew out of my diet when i did or that number probably would have been higher…
so now i’m at a new place in my life… i’ve done two half marathons… one pre-diagnosis (august) and one post-diagnosis (october)… amazingly, with less training, the one post-diagnosis was better because i felt better the whole time… i even look healthier in the pre/post race pictures for the second one…
my new monument to surpass is that i’m signed up for the 2011 marathon at Disney so that should be interesting, i’m so excited that i can’t contain myself… my training should begin in about a week…
if anyone has any helpful tips for diabetic marathon running or knows of a Southeastern diabetic running team, i’m all ears…
