‘An Iraqi parliamentarian warns of
alleged US plans to surrender the country to extremists, urging
resistance on the part of Baghdad. The
Iraqi Press Agency (IPA) quoted female Shia lawmaker Maha al-Douri as
saying that the United States aims to cede the country to Baath, the
outlawed party of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, and Takfiris
— both considered to be extremist groups.’
