Indiana: Senate OKs guns-in-vehicles bill

The Senate voted 41 9 to approve a bill that would make it illegal for employers in Indiana to adopt policies that prohibit workers from having firearms in their locked vehicles on company property.The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Johnny Nugent, R Lawrenceburg, told his colleagues on the Senate floor that people should be able to keep legally permitted firearms in their vehicles so they can go hunting before or after work, or defend themselves if needed on the way to or from their jobs. It would not prevent employers from banning guns inside the workplace.
