Engineering Technician

Our Client has a vacancy for an Engineering Technician. This is a permanent position, based in Orkney.

As Engineering Technician, you will provide technician level engineering support and will be required to work alongside a number of sub-contractor personnel who conduct
offshore survey works, high pressure systems inspection and testing, and mechanical and electrical plant operational activities.

Candidates for this role will have the following qualifications and key experience:
HNC or equivalent in mechanical/electrical engineering.
Specific recognised qualification (academic or vocational) in control instrumentation is desirable.
Substantial post-education experience in process, electrical generation, offshore oil and gas or similar industry.
Working with instrumentation and measurement systems.
Experience with HV electrical systems and formal Quality Assurance schemes are desirable.

Responsibilities:
Working within a small team the Engineering Technician will in general be responsible for the following:
Assist in maintaining availability and proper functioning of all mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
Assist in the safe running of the site by following and further developing safe working practices.
Prepare method statements and risk assessment documentation for approval by the Operations Manager.
Ensure data collection and archiving is correctly carried out as directed by the Operations Manger.
Provide out of hours cover in response to system condition monitoring.
Act as company representative for inshore survey and maintenance activities.

Skills & Knowledge:
Good numeracy and written communication.
Computer literacy and familiarity with IT hardware.
Practical experience of electrical/mechanical maintenance operations.
Knowledge of instrumentation and measurement systems.
Familiarity with electrical switching operations.
Knowledge of small vessel/workboat operations and associated marine regulations.
