The stock Bridgestones lasted well and had some 5000kms worth of tread when i disposed them at 55000kms in the year 2006
those were the days when i new nothing about this forum and was simply fascinated by the tread pattern of a particular brand of tyre and decided to go for it !!:Frustrati
one look i had on the wet weather tread pattern of the AVS SPORT ( yokohama ) and decided i needed to have these tyres next on my car
2006 – june – upgraded to 15" wheels and went for 195/55/15 AVS SPORT
I did not even know then that
1) this is not really the correct upsize ( stock was 175/70/13 )
2) these tyres were getting/already phased out and what i was getting was probably an old batch
anyway all this was the past and i thoroughly enjoyed the attention i was getting from these tyres and wheels all the while gritting my teeth and holding on to loose parts in the car – thanks to the bone jarring ride!
at around 76-77k , i noticed the front tyres had suddenly lost their tread at a much faster pace than it took them to wear out from 55-75k !
i kept thinking whether it was improper rotation on my part but i was absoultely sure i was doing the rotation at regular intervals.
my fear was confirmed, when i have now noticed that the better tyres that went to the front at around 76-77k have now started having accelerated wearing after the tread reaches a threshold wear level
at 82k now, my rear 2 tyres are COMPLETELY BALD spare a few light strokes at the very corner marking what is left of those glorious wet weather pattern !
the front should reach this state in another MAX 3K
THIS GIVES AN OVERALL LIFE OF JUST 30000KMS FOR THESE YOKOS. I AM QUITE DISAPPOINTED WITH THAT. not sure this is what can be expected from these expensive phoren tyres.
my priorities now are
1) good ride quality
2) decent price
3) good life
4) acceptable levels of grip
in that order
what are my options ( please note – these tyres need to go onto the 15 inchers )
