Our Client is a growing, well funded, algae to biofuels company. We seek an applied microbial/phycological production manager to maintain multiple large open raceway-style ponds, scale-up photobioreactors, and algae seed culture stocks, as part of our integrated pilot algal biofuel facility. This position requires a highly motivated, hands-on individual with applied experience maintaining high rate ponds, greenwater ponds, or equivalent open pond algal cultures. Reporting to the operations manager, the individual will work with a site team of engineers, business managers, and scientists to construct, optimize, and validate a 40 acre pilot facility. The microbial/phycological production manager will lead technicians and laborers in the day to day pond operation, maintenance, and reactor scale-up to meet algal biomass production targets, supplying quality feedstock to downstream unit processes and operations.
Qualifications: Masters level or greater in the area of industrial microbiology, applied phycology, or other relevant field. Proven (2+ years) experience with open culture algal systems management. Knowledge or experience in systematics of algae, invertebrate biology, limnology/oceanography, and/or chemical engineering beneficial, but not required.
