Two women injured in commuter train crash

DES PLAINES — Authorities say two women have been injured in a crash involving a car and a Metra commuter train in the northwestern Chicago suburb of Des Plaines.

Metra spokesman Michael Gillis says a northwest bound Metra train heading to Crystal Lake collided with the car just after 8 p.m. Tuesday as the train was pulling up to the Des Plaines commuter station.

The two women in the car were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where their condition was not immediately known.

The accident caused major delays on the Metra line to Crystal Lake.
