Lt. Vic Tamositis of the Arlington Heights Fire Department (AHFD) presented a program on Fall and Fire Prevention at Faith Lutheran Church Wednesday, Jan. 20.
Those attending learned about practical steps that can be taken in and around the home to reduce the risk of falling.
Fire prevention tips as well as services offered by the AHFD were also shared.
Packets, to be placed on refrigerator doors, containing emergency health and contact information generated lots of interest both at the program and on subsequent Sundays at the church. Packets are available, for free, from the AHFD.
In addition, the AHFD can be contacted if residents are interested in purchasing a secure lockbox that can be accessed by the fire department in case of an emergency to avoid the need to break down a door.
The program included a soup and salad lunch organized by Faith Lutheran Church parish nurse Margie Mayfield.
