On Monday, February 15, the Virginia Senate Courts of Justice Committee defeated Senate Bill 79, sponsored by Senator Roscoe Reynolds (D-20), by a margin of 9 to 6. If passed, SB79 would have repealed the language that allows localities the option to fingerprint applicants for an initial concealed handgun permit.
