Man plows into north suburban home

WILMETTE, Ill. (STMW)  — Two Chicago men have been charged after allegedly driving a vehicle into a north suburban home.

The vehicle drove into a home in the 2200 block of Beechwood in Wilmette at about 1 a.m. Thursday, according to a press release issued from Wilmette Police. The house sustained substantial damage.

The driver of the vehicle, Carlos Almanza, 28, of 4347 W. Shakespeare Ave. in Chicago was charged with DUI and possession of marijuana. He was also cited for not wearing a seat belt and driving without a valid driver’s license and insurance, the release said.

The passenger, Tony Brito, also 28, of 1408 N. Harding Ave. in Chicago, was charged with possession of marijuana, the release said.

Both men suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Evanston Hospital. They have since been released from the hospital, the release said.

The family in the home was not injured, the release said.

The two are set for a preliminary hearing on March 9 at 9 a.m. at the Skokie Courthouse.
