The MIDAC Illuminator is for spectroscopists who need dedicated instrumentation or custom sampling configurations. Trying to adapt a standard laboratory FTIR to these custom tasks can be like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Either you find yourself compromising performance, ending up with an awkward or unreliable mechanical jumble, or paying for instrument features you simply don’t use. Finally, there’s a solution designed specifically for your needs. The MIDAC Illuminator is a rugged, compact, and high performance FTIR module that easily and efficiently integrates with a variety of sample interfaces in virtually any configuration.
Inside each Illuminator is a high energy, air-cooled IR source and the patented MIDAC interferometer. Known for its incredible resistance to low frequency vibration interference and its ability to operate reliably virtually anywhere in any orientation, the compact MIDAC interferometer is uniquely suited to demanding applications. The rugged, cast aluminum enclosure includes a single output port equipped with a windowed interface flange. This provides an exit for the collimated output beam while maintaining a sealed and fully purgeable instrument interior.
The MIDAC Illuminator can be coupled with any external sample interface equipped with its own IR detector to create a compact, dedicated FTIR instrument. Alternatively, internal optics which provide a transition to fiber optic cabling can be substituted for the standard collimated output port. By simply adding a fiber optic sampling device and an external detector module, you can create a rugged, yet flexible, near or Mid-IR QC workstation.
The Illuminator becomes a compact, efficient emissions analyzer with a simple factory change. The internal IR source is replaced with a detector module, (DTGS and MCT are popular choices), so that the unit’s port can be aimed at an external source for emissions or open path analysis.
