The Chicago area could get as much as 10 inches of snow this weekend, the National Weather Service reports.
The weather service has issued a winter storm watch for most of the area beginning Sunday evening and running through Monday evening. Cook, DuPage, Lake,
McHenry, and Kane counties are included in the watch.
The snow should develop across northern Illinois by Sunday
evening, the weather service says. South of Interstate 80 will
see a mix of rain and snow or just rain, but north of I-80,
could see snow accumulating to more than 6 inches by Monday
morning, with further accumulations throughout the day,
the weather service said. Snow should begin to
diminish from the west Monday evening, the weather service
said.
Snowfall totals will likely reach 6 inches within 12 hours
and continue to 10 inches or more through the day Monday,
the weather service said.
