Child porn suspect led children’s choir

CHICAGO (WBBM) — An Evanston man – who has worked with children at a synagogue in Chicago and possibly on the North Shore as well – has been arrested on child pornography charges.

The Web site of 53-year-old Rick Mann says he is an actor and has done voice-overs for TV and radio commercials.

Mann is in federal custody on child porn charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says Mann is not accused of having sex with minors.

His Web site says he is affiliated with several synagogues, teaching music at their Hebrew schools.

At Chicago Sinai Congregation, Rabbi David Levinsky told Newsradio 780 that Mann is employed part-time as a song leader, with duties that include teaching music and leading the children’s choir.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says investigators found hundreds of images, some of “adult men engaged in sexually explicit conduct with prepubescent boys.”

The U.S. Attorney’s office says Mann shared child porn on a computer network, using the screen name “Spaniell.”

Mann has a detention hearing tomorrow.
