CHICAGO (WBBM) – The city of Chicago’s cameras caught a suspected hit and run driver on tape. Now, The man is due in bond court today on a reckless homicide charge.
It was around 5:30 a.m. last Tuesday when 59-year-old Helen Triplett of 71st and Union was crossing the street at 69th and Halsted. A passing car hit her and the driver kept going.
Triplett had died of her injuries by the time she reached St. Bernard Hospital.
Now, police say with the help of their POD–or police observation device cameras–they were able to track down a suspect.
34-year-old Clifton Lawrence of 61st and Wabash is charged with felony reckless homicide and failure to report an accident.
