The sister of actor Christian Bale filed for bankruptcy in a British court this week, but the cash-strapped woman is unlikely to receive any help from her Batman-starring brother because of a bitter family feud that followed the actor’s arrest on assault charges in 2008.

In July 2008, Bale, 36, was taken into custody by cops for allegedly assaulting his mother, Jenny, and sister, Sharon, at London’s Dorchester Hotel before the World Premiere of The Dark Knight. Sharon, 42, admits she regrets calling the authorities to intervene, but she says she was angry after Christian lost his famous temper in front of her impressionable young children. The charges were later dropped, but the star has refused to speak to his family for more than two years.
Sharon tells London’s The Sun: “I had an argument with him because he was totally out of order in front of my children. I’d had enough of the violent temper. There was a reason I called the police. It was his behaviour. It flared up into a ridiculous thing and he has not spoken to us since. I regret going to the police. We don’t speak any more. It’s totally his decision and it makes us all very sad. My mother is heartbroken that he doesn’t talk to us…..Christian doesn’t know about the bankruptcy….I wouldn’t expect him to help…….I hope my family will be able to stay in our home but I won’t know until the bankruptcy order is officially filed.”
