It’s been revealed that Drea de Matteo is leaving Desperate Housewives in May.
Drea, who plays the saucy and mysterious Angie Bolen, will reportedly have an “explosive” exit. No word on if she will be killed off or will just be hightailing it out of Wisteria Lane, but we are hearing that the man she is running from, John Barrowman, will finally catch up to her.
Housewives creator Marc Cherry says the show’s fans never really got to know Drea’s character Angie, but there was a reason for it all. “We shielded parts of her character because of the mystery. As we build toward the end and we start undoing the many layers of her, everyone will get how brilliant she is.”
There have been rumors that Drea did not get along with the Housewives cast, but these rumors are absolutely not true according to Cherry who said: “When I heard that stuff, I was stunned. We adore her. She is the sweetest gal in the world.”
He added that Drea originally only signed on for one season anyhow and is anxious to get back to New York with her new baby.
