Our client are an electrical engineering consultancy formed by a number of experienced engineers who had previously worked within electrical utilities or major engineering consultancies in the power engineering sector. They are extremely busy and growing steadily, and offer excellent opportunities for progression.

Our client adds value to a project by combining a sound base of traditional engineering skills with a strong understanding of the competitive and economic pressures existing in today’s environment. They offer a full range of consultancy and project management services from scheme feasibility through to project implementation.

They are currently looking to recruit for candidates with experience in the Power/Utilities industry, and they are looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer (Design/Analysis). Candidates will have a minimum of 4-5 years relevant work experience and must be able to work on their own initiative.

Experience:

• You will have suitable experience of power system design issues and policy, including grid code, security & quality of supply standards.
• You will have a knowledge of plant characteristics and system performance and be able to demonstrate a capability in calculation of network power flows, short circuits, transient stability and harmonics using industry standard analysis software, including PSS/E or PSS/Viper.

Your responsibilities would include the following:

• Development of and providing advice on power system and renewable generation network design
• Power system analytical studies including load flow, short circuit, transient stability and harmonics to support and validate design proposals for utility, industrial and renewable generation projects
• Determination and evaluation of proposals for generation network connections at voltage levels from llkV to 400kV
• Design, assessment/evaluation and optimisation of renewable generation electrical infrastructure.
• Assessment/evaluation and optimisation of renewable generation electrical system characteristics and performance.
• Protection grading studies for industrial and renewable generation systems
• Harmonic assessment and mitigation studies for industrial and renewable generation systems.

Candidates should possess a relevant qualification, preferably a university degree and/or qualification leading to chartered engineer status and membership of the IET.

You should also possess good inter-personal, written and verbal communication skills.
