A runaway Toyota Prius in San Diego
A runaway Prius whose gas pedal stuck as a driver attempted to pass a vehicle on the freeway in San Diego is fueling the massive Toyota recall fire.
Jim Sikes was driving his second generation Prius when the gas pedal stuck, and despite braking, the vehicle would not stop or even slow down. The Prius reached speeds of 90-mph. Sikes claims the car nearly caused him to fly over a cliff at these high speeds. He denies that the floormat was the issue.
Sikes called 911 but dispatchers could not help. A police vehicle eventually caught up with him and helped to slow the Prius by driving next to him and instructing him on how to slow the car.
Toyota is looking into the issue.
That’ll teach you for buying a damn Prius! Heh. I kid, I kid..sorta.
