On March 12, the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety agreed to table LD1817; legislation which would have allowed law enforcement officers to seize firearms for various charges related to domestic violence disputes even if a firearm was not allegedly used (or threatened to be used) in the altercation. If enacted, someoneâ??s firearms could have been confiscated without the opportunity to participate in the judicial process.
