A stage version of John Grisham’s bestselling 1989 suspense thriller A Time to Kill is on its way to Broadway.

A play based on Grisham’s tale about an African-American Southerner on trial for murdering two White men who raped his young daughter will show at Washington’s Arena Stage May 6 through June 19, The Washington Post said this week.
The production is expected to open on NYC’s famed theater district shortly thereafter.
This is the first time a work by Grisham has been adapted for the stage. A film adaptation of the novel — featuring Matthew McConaughey, Samuel L. Jackson, and Kiefer Sutherland — debuted in 1996.
