Gabourey Sidibe Mom Alice Tan Ridley On “America’s Got Talent?”

The mother of Oscar-nominated Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe wants a spot on the next season of America’s Got Talent.

Alice Tan Ridley, a former Off-Broadway powerhouse who now earns her dinner by belting out R&B and gospel hits three times a week at some of New York’s busiest subway stations, is hoping to find the stardom sampled by her 26-year-old daughter when she auditions for the NBC summer talent competition on March 20.

Gabby won critical acclaim — and an Oscar nod — with her breakout role in controversial drama last fall. Now her mom wants a Hollywood Cinderella Story of her own.

“Look, I would not be entering the competition if I did not think I could do well. Singing is what I do and I know I can do this,” Alice told RadarOnline.com this week. “I haven’t told Gabby yet, but I’m sure she will support me just like I support her as a performer.”

If you’re ever in New York, stop by for one of Alice’s live performances at the 14th Street/Union Square, 34th Street/Sixth Avenue, Times Square/Eighth Avenue stations. The lady’s got an impressive set of pipes.
