“Reading Rainbow” Returning To TV

Reading Rainbow — the Emmy Award-winning children’s television classic that taught a generation of kids to love reading — is making a return to the small screen.

The show’s longtime host LeVar Burton Tweeted the news Friday — to the glee of fans.

The popular PBS series ran from 1983 to 2006 and featured kids and celebrities reading books in segments that encouraged literacy and strong reading skills. Public television networks across the country stopped airing repeats in 2009.
