The Carnival of Real Estate was founded by Zillow in 2006. The idea was to showcase the best content real estate blogging community. CoRE has always been an indispensable tool in researching and reviewing the best in RE blogging content.
We’re working on some cool new things at Zillow that keep us very busy. We’ve come to the decision that we can no longer give CoRE the attention it deserves. Rather than retire it, we started bouncing around some ideas about how we can place CoRE in the public domain and turn it over to someone who can breathe into it some new life and keep shining a weekly light on the best in real estate blogging content.
Here’s what we’ve decided to do. If you’ve ever hosted a CoRE, you now have the opportunity to submit to Zillow an essay on why you should become the owner and operator of the Carnival of Real Estate. The rules are simple. Tell us what you would do to keep the CoRE in the stream of real estate content. How would you use it to better help real estate bloggers showcase their content? There will be very few strings attached. We will turn over the ownership of the domain and allow the new host to export the blog in it’s entirety to your own host. We will ask that you maintain a couple of Zillow widgets in the sidebar and that you maintain the basic principles outlined by the blog carnival founders. The idea is to find an enthusiastic person that can take it to the next level.
Here’s how it will work.
- Essays will be judged by a panel of judges from Zillow and others in the real estate industry. We’ll be announcing the judges in an upcoming post.
- Judging will be based on the best plan for long term success with CoRE and how you will provide value to the blogging community.
- Upon selection, the winner will complete an agreement to have the blog and domain transferred to his or her domain.
- Essay submissions open to previous CoRE hosts.
