Some guys just want bigger biceps, and some women just want a perkier butt. Vice-versa is known to happen as well.
These are not the best types of goals to have when it comes to getting in shape. You should never focus on improving just one body part, unless your only goal is to win the national thumb-wrestling championship.
There is a hierarchy in terms of which exercises are better than others. Quite simply, it boils down to bigger muscles and more complex movements at the top of the list, and smaller muscles with less complex movements towards the bottom.
To be healthier, have a higher performance body, and look better all-around you need to take a whole body focus. This doesn’t mean you train every body part in each exercise session; you can do that, but it’s a personal choice.
I’m on what is called a three-day split, which means on one day I do upper body pushing exercises (using chest, shoulders and triceps), the next day is legs, and the next day is upper body pulling (back and biceps). I also do most of my midsection stuff on the latter of these because it doesn’t take as long as the previous two.
