Did Neal McDonough’s refusal to get saucy on the small screen send the former Desperate Housewives star to the unemployment line? McDonough was reportedly fired just three days in to shooting for his new ABC drama Scoundrels after the devoted Catholic refused to take part in a sex scene.
Reports claim McDonough was let go when he told producers he would not strip for an “inappropriate” love scene with co-star Virginia Madsen.
“It wasn’t just ‘heated love scenes,’” an insider explained to Deadline Hollywood this week. “He wouldn’t do any kissing whatsoever, even though those scenes were clearly in the scripts he read before taking the role. He didn’t tell the producers that cast him on this show that he had any issues with this until shooting started. So unprofessional, and such a shame because he is a great talent.”
McDonough has been replaced on the show by actor David James Elliott.
