Erykah Badu Cited For Disorderly Conduct Over “Window Seat” Nude Scene

Programming Note: Happy Easter/Passover, My Lovely PopCrunch Fam! I apologize for the lack of updates over the past few days. I’m still struggling through this nasty flu/sinus infection, so please bare with me. Hopefully I’ll be feeling back to normal one day soon. Now that that’s out of the way, on to the celebrity foolery!

The City of Dallas just won’t let Erykah Badu and her bare ass live! The neo-soul star faces a disorderly conduct charge — a $500 fine — for her nude music video shoot in Downtown Dallas’ historic Dealey Plaza March 17, officials announced on Friday.

Badu, a Dallas native, performed a walking striptease in front of tourists, pedestrians, and one very “grossed out” nine-year-old during the video shoot for Badu’s hit single “Window Seat.” The performance ended with a nude Badu acting out receiving a fatal gunshot to the head at the spot where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Nov. 1963.

On Friday, Sgt. Warren Mitchell of the Dallas Police said the decision to cite Badu for disorderly conduct — a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500 — came after witness Ida Espinosa, 32, of nearby Vernon, Texas filed a criminal complaint against Badu. I should probably mention that it was Ida’s nine-year-old who was treated to a full-frontal view of Erykah in the buff.

The singer also filed to obtain a permit to shoot the video in Dealey Plaza.

“Having a fact witness that was there is what let us file the charges. After much discussion, we feel that these charges best fit her conduct. She disrobed in a public place without regard to individuals and small children who were close by.”

Erykah has not yet responded to the citation.
