A 10-game winning streak for St. Charles North’s softball team came to an end last Thursday in a 10-9 loss to Neuqua Valley.
So how did the North Stars respond? By starting a new streak in decisive fashion with a 17-1 win over Elgin Monday in St. Charles.
In the five-inning victory the North Stars (11-2 overall, 4-1 in the Upstate Eight Conference) pounded out 16 hits, drew five walks and had one hit batter. All but one player reached base successfully.
Amanda Ciran picked up the win in the circle for North. After yielding two baserunners in the first inning, she let just three batters reach in the next four innings.
Taylor Russell continued her hot streak, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Annie Korth was 3-for-3 with a walk, three doubles, three runs and three RBIs. Ashley Seering went 2-for-2 (walk, hit by pitch), scored three times and drove in two. Ciran helped her own cause with a two-run homer to cap a five-run first for the Stars.
