Pacquiao-Mayweather fight imminent

Philippines’ pride and six time world boxing champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao granted Floyd Mayweather, Jr. what he has been asking for: 14-days cut-off random blood test. During the last negotiation, reports has it 14 days cut-off for Mayweather, while 24 days for Pacquaio. Negotiations may have been unfolding right after the announcement since both fighters, more than anyone else, want this fight unless there would be more “excuses” or conditions along the way. For the moment, this much anticipated fight has not reached an irrevocable agreement yet, and unfortunately there are conditions that may hinder or prolong the deal.

Given there is random blood test, Examiner pointed out it is not as serious as the money and pay-per-view involved. Mayweather, continued the commentary, agreed to the cut-off but has changed his mind to a full random test after beating Mosley. About 1.4 million pay-per-views were sold, the biggest recorded sale for a non-heavyweight fight. This scenario gives Mayweather the advantage of splitting the pot in his favor. In short, the stake for the coming fight has grown bigger.

Another commentary, however, sees the test as the major issue suggesting an alternative: have USADA representatives guard each fighter less than ten feet away all the time. If they “hide” they better give out samples. A drug test is usually recommended after each fight.

In the end, it is in the hands of the authorities and not mere speculations. There is a proper venue to make things straight once and for all.
