So, I just did a Bayer A1CNOW home test. This is the first A1C I’ve done since discontinuing the metformin completely. My last A1C from a lab was 5.1, and that was after a month of doing VERY low carb (averaging MAYBE 15g total carbs per day).
Home A1C test result today: 5.0.
At first, I was excited, but then I came here and read some past threads about the accuracy of the home tests. When I started reading, I thought I was in a good position because it seemed that, for most people whose Bayer home test was NOT accurate, the home test was actually higher than the lab test (which would mean my actual A1C could be even lower if my home test was not correct). But then I found a few whose experience was the opposite. So who knows!
I need to get back to testing more regularly, and I need to save my next home A1C test for a day when I’m going to have one drawn at the lab as well so I can compare!
