Alabama will have its challenges slowing down the Longhorns trio of Jordan Shipley, D.J. Monroe and Marquise Goodwin. The three have combined for five return scores.
“I think special teams is important in every game, especially for us in the big games,” Shipley said. “A lot of the time it comes down to turnovers and special teams.”Now there is another Texas-Alabama game, this one for the national title, 45 years after Lammons and Namath became acquainted.
“Intercepted him twice,” Lammons noted early in a pleasant telephone interview Tuesday.
Lammons is traveling to this Bowl Championship Series game in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., on Thursday night to root for his alma mater against Namath’s alma mater.
This championship game should only be as good as that game, which is remembered for the all-American quarterback, Namath, being stopped at the goal line by Tommy Nobis, the Texas all-American linebacker.
