I turned on the TV and some obnoxious talk show was on. I wish I could block TV shows on TiVo so that I would never have to see or hear them by accident. I propose that the screen be blacked out and audio turned off, with an onscreen message indicating that the show is blocked. Of course, the block could be reversed. The commercials could still be broadcast like normal so that advertisers don't get their knickers in a twist, but anytime the blocked show is on, the screen would be blacked out and the audio would be muted. This would be super awesome.
