STANDARD UNIT DESCRIPTION
The QXR 920 drills with a 3 in. to 6 in. DTH Hammer to a depth of 140 ft. (42.7 m) without reloading the carousel and to greater depth with reloading. Drill is designed to flexibly switch between Production, Pre-Split or Drain hole drilling and (with options) Reverse Circulation sample drilling.
FEED ASSEMBLY
Mast overall length is 32 ft. 7 in. (8865 mm) and 24 ft. (7315 mm) head travel. Hoisting and pulldown power provided by a chain feed system that uses a powerful hydraulic cylinder.
CAROUSEL
The carousel holds six rods 20 ft (6 m) long . All functions are hydraulically operated.
AIR SYSTEM
Diesel driven Sullair Compressor producing 900 CFM (25.5 m3/min) at 500 psi (34.5 bar) @ 1800 rpm, or 1050 CFM (29.73m3/min) at 350 psi @ 2100 rpm, air filtration independent of engine air. Complete with safety shutdown.
POSITIONING
Feed is mounted on a boom with a swing of 35° to the right and 30° to the left. Can be positioned for drilling horizontally from 4 ft. (1220 mm) to 12.5 ft. (3810 mm) above the grade. Can also be tilted 30° left or right of the drill.
CONTROLS
Electric/Hydraulic controlled through the Programmable Logic Controller. Satellite hydraulic valves are located at the side of the drill for tramming and set-up and on the mast of the drill.
POWER
CAT 3406E (C15) turbo charged after cooled diesel engine, 500 Hp “IND C” continuous set at 1800 to 2100 rpm
UNDERCARRIAGE
Cat® special tracks are mounted on an undercarriage designed jointly by Cubex and Caterpillar. The tracks have 19.7inch (500 mm) wide triple grouser shoes. Spring applied/hydraulic release brakes. 36°. Gradability, 16 inch (406 mm) ground clearance. Track oscillation is +/- 10° Two (2) speed tram motors.
CENTRALIZER
Hydraulic Centralizer with a maximum opening of 7 inches. Hydraulically actuated slip plate sized to the hammer and drill pipe used.
6230 TOP DRIVE
Hydraulically driven with 4225 ft-lbs (5730 Nm) of torque @ 3000 psi. Speed is infinitely variable from 0 – 80 rpm. Top drive has a patented splined piston breakout system.
Hammer Lubrication
Positive metering of either grease or oil. Fully automatic with 5 gallon (20 litre) reservoir.
HYDRAULICS
Two variable displacement, load sensing pressure compensated pumps. A third smaller pump dedicated to running a cooler fan. Oil is stored in a 110 gal (416 litre) tank.
COOLING
Maximum ambient cooling capacity of 125 deg. F (52 deg. C)
CAB
Two man cab with vibration isolated seat and sound insulation. Independent boom mounted with both vertical and horizontal leveling cylinders. All functions controlled from the cab.
