Billy Idol Replacing Steven Tyler As Lead Singer Of Aerosmith?

While Steven Tyler’s been busy kicking a prescription drug addiction — and serenading shoppers at Home Depot — Billy Idol’s been even busier stealing his job as the lead singer of Aerosmith….

Classic Rock Magazine cites inside source who tattle that Idol could be replacing Tyler as frontman of the band his performed with for more than 30 years.

Sources say Idol was set to meet with Aerosmith’s Joe Perry last week, but fell ill with a cold that postponed discussions.

An informant says: “Joe said he wanted to talk to Billy about joining Aerosmith, because the band were having problems with Steven. As far as I know Idol did not show up due to having a cold.”

Perry recently admitted they have already talked to a number of singers about replacing Tyler — including Lenny Kravitz: “(There’s) a few people we’ve talked to, and we’ll see how it goes… As far as auditions go, we’ll probably just sit around and have a couple of drinks and see if we get along – because we’re already gonna know that they can sing.”
