I am using WagonR for over 4 years(39K ODO) and Matiz(43K ODO) for 9. Now I am terribly bored of them, so planning for atleast one replacement now and another after 3 years.
This new car should cost ~8L.
I seek advice on two fronts: which one to dispose earlier and what to buy for replacement?
About my usage:
My driving is just 600Kms per month in city and another 600KM highway leisure trip every 2 months. Till now i was using Matiz for city and WagonR for highways+wife commute. I would keep the new car for atleast 6 years, so I can replace the other as soon this one’s emi are over. I do not mind using one for city use and exploit the newer for leisure trips.
Driving condition/habits:
Self-driven, I feel lucky being able to skip peak hour traffic chaos.
I have to encounter 20 speed breakers every day spread across 1.5 KM stretch. Overwhelmed I ocassionally speed-off at the breakers.
No. of occupants in car would be 3 for long distance+ lots of luggage while in city it would be 1-2.
Deciding factors:
New car should have low running cost (including maintenance), strudyness, good resale. Purchase would be company lease so has to be brand new. I strongly feel its high time I should upgrade from the hatchback.
I am unable to decide which one to dispose now as both gives good mileage Matiz gives me 16-17 and WagonR 14-15 in city.
In WagonR i got the michelins, clutch and brakeshoe changed 3 months back. It would fetch me more in resale, but seems more reliable.
Matiz, does not have power steering and had developed a crack in the windscreen at driver’s corner. If i get windscreen replaced and spend another 35K on refreshing its interiors it can also work well for next 3 years. It’s resale is already low and won’t change considerably in next 3 years.
