Suburban police nab 10,000 pirated DVDs

Police say they found 10,000 pirated DVDs in a raid of a Wheeling house.

Mount Prospect and Wheeling Police got a tip about an illegal DVD recording and selling business on East Merle Lane.

They used a search warrant and found the huge cache of DVDs. 

In addition, police say they found 15 DVD duplicating machines and about $3,000 in cash.

42-year-old David Perez was arrested and charged with Felony Unlawful Use of Audio Visual Recordings.  Bond is set at $10,000.

The Motion Picture Association of America says pirating costs the industry billions of dollars.

The MPAA’s Anti-Piracy Unit assisted in the Wheeling raid.
