R45 STF Semi Roughing Endmills
The R45-STF (Special Tooth Form) carbide endmill is a semi-roughing tool, eliminating the use of finishing endmills. Due to its unique chip-breaker design, which produces an excellent work piece finish and enables higher speeds and feeds, the R45-STF produces short chips, even in longer chipping materials.
The high performance four flute geometry, with unequally indexed cutting edges, provides for superior tool stability and lower cutting forces, when combining TiAlN coating effectively.
The 45° chamfer of the outer corners in the cutting edges offers increased strength.
A recent case study conducted, shows first hand the benefits of this unique tool design. A precision component manufacturer used a diameter 12mm to produce steering dampeners for motorbikes from lead bright steel, in a HAAS VF2 machining centre under dry conditions. At 5000 RPM (Vc = 188m/min) & 1000mm/min feed-rate (f= 0.05mm/tooth), taking a range of roughing & finishing cuts with only one tool! The amount components achieved with other brands of endmills were 40 parts under these conditions. The R45-STF carbide endmill was able to achieve 150 parts, leaving the production staff at MSC Products amazed!
