American Idol’s Feb. 25 results show will spotlight reigning Idol champ Kris Allen’s upcoming missionary trek to Haiti. Allen will travel to the impoverished island as part of the United Nations’ campaign to raise awareness and funds for Haitian earthquake relief.

As part of the how’s “Idol Gives Back” charity effort, Kris will travel to disaster zone on Feb. 19 to learn how people are recovering from the earthquake and find out what they will need in the months to come. He’ll share video from his visit and sing on next Thursday’s episode of Idol.
The United Nations has been working to help survivors of the Jan. 12 earthquake recover by delivering food, water, and protection against diseases such as measles and malaria.
“I’m looking forward to traveling to Haiti to see the UN’s work firsthand,” says Idol’s Season 8 winner. “The people of Haiti are rebuilding their country, and the UN is there to help them every step of the way. I look forward to sharing the images and stories from my trip with Idol viewers across the country.”
This year’s “Idol Gives Back” Special airs April 21, and will raise money for five charities, including Feeding America and Malaria No More.
