Division of Labor, or economic specialization, is not a guarantor of success, but it is a prerequisite for it. The fact that we don’t have to grow our own food, raise our own cattle, or churn our own butter is precisely why people can have the freedom and ability to invent iPhones, write screenplays like Gran Torino, and become brain surgeons.
We all come out ahead when free people, as best they can, choose their career path in life. That means incurring the risks, but also being allowed to reap the rewards.
