RaidSonic has publicly announced its love for USB 3.0. In coming months RaidSonic will be launching three new external HDD/SSD enclosures that make use of the ‘SuperSpeed USB’ standard.
First being, the Icy Box IB-230StU3, a compact enclosure that makes for a portable and pocket-able solution that can hold a single 2.5 inch SATA HDD or SSD. It gets a healthy dose of brushed metal and aluminum overalls that keep it light and sturdy. It uses USB 3.0 and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. It will ship next month for 27 EUR a piece. This one in the lot would be my personal favorite for its brushed metallic looks.
In April, RaidSonic will release the Icy Box IB-330StU3, a 3.5-inch enclosure which also has USB 3.0 connectivity. Its unique feature includes silicon inserts to minimize vibration and features a design enabling screw-less drive mounting. This one will cost 39 Euro.
The third in the batch includes the Icy Box IB-RD4320StU3-B desktop enclosure. It can hold two 3.5″ SATA drives with RAID 0, 1, 0+1, and JBOD support, and USB 3.0 interface to let you make use of the transfer speeds. The pricing and the release date of Icy Box IB-RD4320StU3-B is yet unknown.
