Andrew Koenig ‘Growing Pains’ Actor Missing

Andrew Koenig, former ‘Growing Pains’ actor, is missing in Vancouver, BC.

Koenig played Richard “Boner” Stabone on the 80’s sitcom and has been missing for over a week. He was originally in Toronto visiting friends then traveled to Vancouver, where all the action is. Problem is, he hasn’t been spotted since February 14th.

His father, Walter Koenig, who played Pavel Checkov on the original “Star Trek” series, says that he and his wife received a bizarre letter from their son, postmarked February 15th. Walter says the letter concerned him: “He sounded despondent. Nobody has seen this but my wife and I,” he said. He added that he is quite convinced that drugs aren’t the reason, but did say that it would not completely out of the question.

He said: “I think it’s something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time. There’s no single trauma. There’s no episode. There’s nothing of that nature.” He also mentioned that the last time he spoke to his son he sounded extremely depressed.

Andrew’s phone has since been turned off, or has lost all battery power. The last time he used it was on February 16th to conduct some banking business.

Friends are concerned about Koenig, saying that he sold some of his belongings before leaving for Canada.

This doesn’t sound good. It’s strange that his father doesn’t believe drugs are involved but yet says, “It’s in his nature.” To me, it DOES sound like drugs are involved. The scary part is that he is suffering from depression and was selling his possessions before he went on this journey. (Getting rid of possessions is one of the tell-tale signs of someone contemplating suicide.)

Hopefully someone knows the whereabouts of Andrew and will help him to get help. Let’s just hope he doesn’t end up like so many other stars have this past year..
