KNOX, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say an intentional fire at a northern Indiana jail prompted inmates to be removed and sent to other jails.
No injuries were reported from the fire Sunday night at the Starke County Jail. The sheriff’s department says inmates broke a light fixture and stuffed toilet paper into it to start the fire.
The department says the fire caused minimal damages.
Inmates were transferred to jails in nearby counties until the jail could be fully inspected.
