The Gossip Mill is atwitter with whispers that journalist Anderson Cooper — who also works as a contributing reporter for Sunday night newsmagazine 60 Minutes — is in chats with CBS News executives to expand Anderson’s role with the network. With Katie Couric’s 5-year contract with the CBS set to end next year, there’s speculation that the network may be looking to tap Anderson as the next host of CBS Evening News. Could such a merger bring an end to Anderson Cooper’s CNN hit, Anderson Cooper 360?
The New York Times wrote on Monday: “CBS executives, mindful that Katie Couric’s contract expires in a little over a year, have talked to Anderson Cooper of CNN about an anchor job, according to two TV veterans informed of the meeting.”
