
Neil Patrick Harris — who stars on the popular CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother and even hosted the Tonys — will star in Sony’s buzzworthy big screen adaptation of The Smurfs, Deadline Hollywood dished on Wednesday. The Smurfsaired as part of NBC’s Saturday Morning lineup for nine years before it was cancelled in 1990. The film version of the ’80s animated classic will come to life through a mix of live-action and cutting edge CGI-animation. NPH has landed the lead live-action role.
